Entry Visa

Entry Visa is granted to Persons of Indian Origin and also to those who are dependents family members of Employment Visa or Research Visa holders. 

The visa can be extended later by the Foreigners Regional Registration Officer in India on a yearly basis up to a maximum period of 5 years.

Eligibility for applying for entry visa:

  1. Applicant is a person of Indian origin,  defined as a person who has held Indian nationality, or a child or grandchild of a person who has held Indian nationality.

  2. Applicant is a spouse or child of a person of Indian origin.

  3. Applicant is a spouse or dependent family member of a foreign national coming to India on long term visa such as Employment, Research or Student. In such cases, the visa duration granted is co-terminus with the period of the principal visa holder. The principal visa holder's visa must be issued before the spouse and dependent family members can apply for their Entry visa.
  4. Applicant's purpose of visit to India does not match any other type of visa. In this the purpose of visit should be clearly explained.

Requirements for Entry Visa:

  1. Spouses and Children or Grandchildren of Persons of Indian Origin: Non-Indian spouse and children or grandchildren must produce proof of relationship with the Person of Indian Origin.

  2. The Non Indian spouse must provide a marriage certificate and a copy of spouses Indian passport, or naturalization certificate that shows previous nationality is Indian.

  3. Non-Indian children must provide a birth certificate along with a copy of parents Indian passport(s), or naturalization certificate that shows previous nationality is Indian.

  4. Non-Indian grandchildren must provide a copy of the grandparent’s passport or a government issued document showing that their grandparents held Indian citizenship, and their parent’s birth certificate. This will show the Non Indian grandchild's relationship to the Person who has held Indian Nationality.

  5. Spouse and dependent children of a foreign national coming to India on a visa such as Employment, Business, Research or Student must produce proof of relationship.

  6. Spouse must provide a marriage certificate.

  7. Non-Dependent children must provide a birth certificate.

  8. The spouse and dependent children must provide a copy of the passport and a copy of the visa issued to the principle visa holder.
